Frequently Asked Questions

I have a project I would like done, but I live outside of Worcester County, how far would you travel?

Although the majority of our work is done in the greater Worcester area, we do travel throughout most of the Commonwealth. In the past we’ve done work as far away as Martha’s Vineyard, and although we can’t guarantee we will bid on every job in the state, it can’t hurt to ask. However, we do not do work outside of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

We are looking to put our house on the market and are not on town sewer, what is involved with a Title 5 inspection?

A Title 5 inspection refers to the inspection of an onsite wastewater system, also known as a septic system. Under Massachusetts law, any home, condominium, or business not currectly connected to a centralized sewer is required to perform a Title 5 inspection during a transfer of title. There are also a number of other circumstances where a Title 5 inspection may be mandated by the state or a bank. There are however, some situations where certain circumstances are exempt, for more information please refer to the MA DEP website.

Are you related to the Mercurio’s in West Boylston who do masonry?

Yes, the Mercurio masons in West Boylston are cousins and are experienced masons.

There is work I need done at my house, but I don’t know exactly what the process is. Do you charge for estimates?

No. As long as the scope of work pertains to our expertise, we will be happy to give you our best professional opinion on your project, as well as a free estimate.

I tried looking you up in the yellow pages but your number is not listed. Do you advertise?

Other than our official website, David P. Mercurio and Son Construction has not advertised in many decades, unfortunately that includes a listing in the yellow pages.

We’re thinking of building a new house for our family. Could we hire you to contract the job?

We specialize in “sill down” construction, meaning we will be happy to take on work that pertains to anything from the sill of a house, and down. We do not get involved with any service work from the sill up. However, there are local companies we could recommend in almost all service areas.
